The Eastern Ontario Volleyball Club (EOVC) serves athletes living in the areas around Carleton Place, Perth, Smiths Falls, Merrickville, Kemptville and points south. If you wish to play volleyball at the highest level, fly with Air Force today.
MISSION: The EOVC was founded in 2013 to provide motivated area athletes the means to train towards competing at the highest levels of the sport of volleyball, for life.
THE NAME: Before a health scare interrupted the adventure, Club President Cliff Woods began a club back in 2009 – the Lanark County Volleyball Club, whose nickname was Wings – LCVC Wings. Air Force is simply an extension of that high-flying concept, and our club name, Eastern Ontario Volleyball Club, represents the goal we have set to create a place to play for this region’s best and most dedicated athletes.
TRYOUTS: EOVC Air Force tryouts occur during the first couple of weeks of September every year. Tryouts last anywhere from 1-3 weeks depending on the number and quality of athletes in competition.
PRACTICE: Younger Air Force teams practice two evenings per week, for two hours per practice. Older teams may practice 3 times per week, subject to gym availability.
SEASON: The OVA season generally runs from November through to Provincial Championships in April, with Volleyball Canada’s National Championships taking place in early to mid-May. Younger teams compete in a minimum of 4 tournaments per season plus Provincial Championships, with older teams adding National Championships, sometimes playing up an age level at extra events, travelling to compete out-of-province, or even internationally.
FEES: EOVC club fees are estimated at $800 per season, and will cover:
> gym fees
> coaches’ per diems
> registration for four (4) OVA events, plus Ontario Championships
> home and away jersey
> 1 pair matching spandex
> 2 pairs socks
> 1 pre-game warmup t-shirt
The EOVC will consider financial assistance to players on a case-by-case basis.
VOLUNTEERING: The EOVC is a not-for-profit organization run entirely on the energy and sacrifices of the volunteers it attracts. If you are interested in being a part of this exciting new venture, please consider helping us out at one of the following volunteer activities:
