The 17U Girls headed south to Queen’s University in Kingston to compete in the OVA 17U Girls McGregor Cup. The girls faced some of the regular opposition to which they have become accustomed this season, but played with more organization and purpose to ensure that they were ‘in’ most matches throughout the day. A tie for 7th doesn’t seem to properly capture the feeling that the team had after the event. The girls played perhaps their best volleyball of the season, had an emotional 3-set come-from-behind win against Vikings Valhalla and were close enough to finishing in 5th place that they ‘could taste it’. Our Air Force Gunners should leave the event knowing they are certainly flying in the right direction. Congratulations girls, and thanks to Coaches Woods and Edwards for piloting the girls through a very competitive day.
