16U Girls give their first salute to OVA volleyball

The brand new EOVC Air Force 16U Girls headed north on Saturday for their first club event as a team. The OVA 16U Girls Provincial Cup/Trillium at Bishop Davis CHS in Pembroke was the first taste of club volleyball for many of our newly-commissioned flyers. While match victory would prove elusive on the day, the girls did take a first [joyous] set victory and took advantage of plenty of playing time to get accustomed to the pace and excitement of club-level volleyball. The day’s match scores were as follows: Maverick Outlaws/Ottawa (4-25, 10-25), Maverick Derringers/Ottawa (11-25, 6-25), Ottawa Valley Vikings/Renfrew (21-25, 17-25), Cornwall Vikings (21-25, 26-24, 8-15).

Thanks go out to the 16U Girls’ coaching staff, Cliff Woods, Jon Valentin and Kristin Drouin, and to all the friends and family who made sure the girls were well-fed and well-supported throughout their first tournament day. Congratulations girls!
