The EOVC 17U Girls played some great volleyball to start the day at the OVA 17U Girls Provincial Cup/Trillium at Queen’s University in Kingston, losing a close match with Ottawa Maverick 16U Outlaws (20-25, 23-25), but following that up with a confident and decisive defeat of Durham Attack Red (25-12, 25-21). Their 25-12 set win against Attack secured a pool win for Air Force, and a well-deserved hour+ break to gather their energies for their quarter-final matchup against Kingston Pegasus 16U. After their play in the morning, most would have assumed that this match would go well for our Air Force girls, but Pegasus play determined ball, capitalizing on errors and defeating our girls in 3 sets (25-19, 15-25, 12-15). Unfortunately, this locked our team out of a chance to move up to Championship division at day’s end. Nonetheless, our girls gathered themselves up for their final match of the day against Ottawa Valley Vikings, which they took in 3 sets (25-21, 22-25, 19-17). Congratulations girls on placing 5th at your first tournament of 2014-2015! Thanks to our amazing coaching staff, with special thanks to EOVC President Cliff Woods for traveling to Kingston to take on head coaching duties in Matt Hoey’s absence.
