Tess Edwards, sister of Grace (17U Girls), Holly (16U Girls), and Laura Edwards (Assistant Coach) played her first match in the top division of Greek professional volleyball on Sunday. Her team, GS Ilioupoli (Athens) defeated Makedones Axioy (Thessaloniki) in 4 sets (25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 25-17). Ilioupoli is new to the top division after having won the A2 championship title in 2013-2014. Tess, who played 6 years of club ball (Ottawa Kangaroos, National Capitals), 2 seasons in the NCAA with the University of Kentucky Wildcats and 3 seasons as an OUA All Star with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees, is the team’s setter. She was on-hand to help out with Air Force Year 1 tryouts in September of 2013. Sunday’s victory is the first of 20 matches Ilioupoli will play across Greece during the 2014-2015 season. Congratulations Tess!
